Chalk Print Scarf
500 of these 'limited edition' CHALK scarves worn around the world build a clean water well for the village of Mayual.
Mayual is a community that was created out of conflict. The village is home to over 5,000 families who have fled tribal warfare in South Sudan. Although they are now relatively safe in their new home, residents must now deal with hunger and poverty as they struggle to create a new life from nothing. The extensive size of this community makes the need for water even more critical. Although the land is ideal for agricultural cultivation, a lack of clean water threatens to halt any development before it gets a chance to start. Rather than attending school, children stay home to take part in the daily struggle of accessing drinkable water. Instead of growing gardens and settling their families into their new homes, women spend hours fetching water every day. Having already been through so much hardship and violence, the people of Mayual are eager to start a new life. All they need is water.
Each scarf is packaged with tags and material about the Obakki Foundation’s programs for clean water and information about the community that benefits from your purchase.
As you wear this scarf, remember its greater purpose. Thanks to your support, this village will have access to clean water.
